## Welcome to our Virtual Open Day

## How to use the Virtual Open Day microsite

We have set up this microsite to give you all the information you need to find out about what Engineering is all about, what studying Engineering at Oxford is like, how to apply, the opportunities you'll get as a student - and beyond!

There is information on how to apply, all about the course, life as a student, and about what you might do beyond the course. Plus videos and other contributions from our current students such as sample timetables, and their experiences of living and studying in Oxford.

If you have any questions at all, email us at [student.administration@eng.ox.ac.uk.](mailto:student.administration@eng.ox.ac.uk)**\**

To get you started, here's a short video from current students. Don't forget to check out the other videos on our [YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv8Ngyqvzuf48OC9t3YYGdg "Youtube") too!

## Here's what our students think about Engineering at Oxford!

Student Ambassadors and researchers at an Open Day presentation

One of our Software labs, where you will be introduced to a range of coding languages and professional engineering software packages for Computer Aided Design, Computational Fluid Dynamics and other applications.

Our Electrical Lab, used for 1st year design-build-test exercises, 2nd year coursework modules and 3rd year laboratories on digital communications and electrical properties of materials.

Our Design and Build lab, home to a range of equipment giving you the opportunity to get hands-on experience with projects that test and develop your engineering knowledge, like building and testing a Truss Bridge from riveted Aluminium alloy extrusion.

The student study area, on the 8th floor, has stunning views over Oxford and the surrounding area. There are individual study carrels, all with power sockets, in addition to group study areas and small meeting rooms.

The 3D printing lab is our newest lab, opened in 2019, and provides students with resources to produce physical prototypes within your engineering desgin projects. Equipment includes entry-level desktop 3D printers to industrial rapid prototyping machines.

Becky, Lady Margaret Hall

To me, engineering involves continuously adapting to our changing world, while creating a bridge between science and the needs of society. It is inspiring to connect with other bright minds in this innovative field of study.
