Brain health

Mechanical interactions within the brain are fundamental to its biological functions, influencing organ-scale (i.e., functional), cellular and sub-cellular processes. Our research aims at developing computational (and experimental to a lesser extent) models that explore the underlying multiphysics of the brain (and sometime, other peripheral organs) at all scales and across those, and characterise these in the context of physiological conditions (e.g., fluid-structure interaction in the brain, obstetrics), brain injury (e.g., assault impacts, sport injury, blast, obstetrics, etc.) and neuromodulation techniques (e.g., anaesthetics, TUS). In this axis of research, we aim at providing new insights, predictive capabilities, and technologies, potentially enhancing safety, protocol design, and diagnostic capabilities in clinical settings.
