## Entry Requirements

We’re looking for students with exceptional academic ability and a hunger to learn more. If you can demonstrate a passion for engineering and for applying your technical knowledge to solve real-world problems, we want to hear from you.

## Qualifications you'll need

The A\*s must be in Mathematics, Physics or Further Mathematics.

# Mitigating circumstances

If you’re predicted A\*AA, you may still be offered an interview, if our admissions tutors think you have potential to do well on the course. This is usually because of circumstances that have caused you to fall short of your full potential. This might be because of disruption due to a change of schools or teachers, bereavement or an illness.

If this is the case, you should make it clear in your UCAS personal statement and/or school reference.

Please note that any offer made would still be conditional on achieving A\*A\*A at A-level.

## Other requirements

#### English language requirements

If English is not your first language, you may also need to meet [our English language requirements.](https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/applying-to-oxford/for-international-students/ELR)

#### GCSEs

GCSEs will be taken into account when we consider your application but they are just one aspect that we look at. GCSE results will be considered alongside your personal statement, academic reference, predicted grades and performance in any written work or written test required for your course.

If you are shortlisted, your performance in interviews will also be taken into account.

Higher grades at GCSE can help to make your application more competitive, and successful applicants typically have a high proportion of 7,8 and 9 grades. However, we do look at GCSE grades in context.

#### Engineering and Science Admissions Test

All candidates must also take the [Engineering and Science Admissions Test (ESAT)](https://eng.ox.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/applications/engineering-and-science-admissions-test) as part of their application.
