Ngai Pindell stepping down as Allard Law Dean in summer 2026

Under Dean Ngai Pindell's leadership, Allard Law admitted and supported an increasingly diverse student body, strengthened alumni and community connections, and engaged in successful fundraising.

Ngai Pindell will not seek a second term as Dean of the Peter A. Allard School of Law and will be stepping down, effective June 30, 2026.

Since joining the Allard School of Law on November 8, 2021, Dean Pindell has led numerous initiatives that have supported the law school’s increasingly diverse student body and deepened alumni and community connections.

“It has been a privilege to serve as Dean, and I’m proud of our many accomplishments, including building a more diverse student body and faculty, hosting speakers from around the world, and engaging in successful fundraising,” said Dean Pindell.

Under Dean Pindell’s leadership, the law school has achieved numerous significant milestones. In 2023, he led the launch of the law school’s five-year strategic plan. In 2024, Allard Law established its new EDI Office and the IDEA Leaders Pre-Orientation Program, which supports incoming first-year students from persistently, historically and systemically marginalized groups and allies.

Thanks to Dean Pindell’s dedicated fundraising efforts, the law school has also significantly increased financial support for our JD and graduate students, including several new awards for students from equity-deserving backgrounds. Other recent successful initiatives from his time as Dean include the law school’s Afghan Women Judges’ Program and the new technology, law and society initiative.

Following a short leave at the end of his term as Dean, Dean Pindell will continue on as a member of the Allard Law community as a faculty member. “I look forward to contributing to the school’s success in the future as a teacher and scholar,” Professor Pindell shared.

Information regarding the appointment of a Dean pro tem, as well as opening a search for the next Dean, will be shared in the coming months.
