Appointment Date
February 9, 2026
I am pleased to announce that Angelique Pilon has been appointed as Director of the Sustainability Hub, effective March 1, 2026.
Angelique has served as acting Director of the Hub since October 1, 2024, bringing a design-driven approach and broad institutional knowledge to the creation and innovation of sustainability and climate action at the university. In this role, she oversaw new strategic approaches to faculty engagement, strengthened coordination across UBC climate and sustainability academic centres, and increased international connections with other universities through the Campus as a Living Lab program.
Prior to her appointment as Acting Director, Angelique was the Sustainability Hub’s Director of Urban Innovation Research, where she led a portfolio of programs focused on catalyzing and advancing innovative research and interdisciplinary collaborations, on and off campus. Her work included leading major initiatives such as the Brock Commons Tallwood House research and knowledge mobilization program — influencing changes to British Columbia’s mass timber building policy — and launching the Campus as a Living Lab Fund Competitions across the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.
Angelique holds a Master of Architecture from UBC and brings professional experience from practice in both Canada and the United States. She is also a certified Project Management Professional and a LEED Accredited Professional, reflecting her deep expertise in sustainable design and delivery.
The Sustainability Hub works to embed sustainability across all aspects of UBC’s academic endeavours, with a focus on enhancing student education and faculty support. Guided by UBC's 20-Year Sustainability Strategy, the Hub delivers programs, resources, and tools to advance sustainability across three main areas: Sustainability Learning Pathways, Agents of Change, and Campus as a Living Lab. These in turn support the university’s Academic Mission and UBC’s Strategic Directions 2025–2030.
I look forward to continuing to work with Angelique and the team in the Sustainability Hub as we advance UBC’s commitments to sustainability and climate action in service of our academic community, cultivating academic excellence and impact in a global context.
