Onze TU Delft campus geschilderd met de schilderrobot ontwikkeld in het afstudeerproject (2022, Industrieel Ontwerpen) van Mischa de Haan. TU Delft zegel op de achterzijde. Voor elke (TU) Delftenaar is deze kerstbal een aanwinst voor komende Kerst! Afmetingen: 7,5 x 7,5 x 3,5 cm. Verpakt in geschenkverpakking.

“Gezicht op TU Delft”

TU Delft en Royal Delft zijn een bijzondere samenwerking aangegaan. Met trots laten we ons keramische aanbod zien, natuurlijk allen voorzien van een certificaat van echtheid. TU Delft alumnus Mischa de Haan studeerde in 2022 af van de faculteit Industrieel Ontwerpen met een wel heel bijzonder afstudeeronderwerp “Digital Delft Blue, a new approach”. Mischa ontwikkelde een ware Delft Blue robotschilder. Royal Delft heeft het TU Delft campusontwerp “Gezicht op TU Delft” ontworpen en deze zijn op het kerstornament , schaaltje en stroopwafelpot geschilderd met deze robotschilder.

Royal Delft

Royal Delft is de oudste fabrikant van Delfts aardewerk die tot op de dag van vandaag nog steeds Delfts Blauw produceert met traditionele technieken. De kern van het bedrijf ligt in het ambacht van het handmatig vervaardigen van aardewerk — van het maken van de mallen tot het met de hand beschilderen van elk stuk Delfts Blauw. Naast handbeschildering en transfers wilde Royal Delft op zoek gaan naar nieuwe mogelijkheden om aardewerk te decoreren. Via een samenwerking met de TU Delft werd een eerste prototype ontwikkeld met veel potentie, wat leidde tot deze masterthesis.

De thesis van Mischa presenteert een verbeterd ontwerp van een Delfts Blauw-schilderrobot met een werkend demonstratiemodel. Deze demonstrator kan autonoom tegels decoreren met verschillende technieken, variërend van gepersonaliseerde jubileumtegels tot goudluster en het beschilderen van grote tableaus. De consistentie van de schilderrobot wordt bereikt door het oppervlak van elke tegel te analyseren en de kwast hierop aan te passen. De robot gebruikt dezelfde traditionele kwast en verf als bij handbeschilderd aardewerk, wat betekent dat de robot automatisch van kwast kan wisselen en de verf kan bijvullen.

Het voordeel van deze productiemethode is de snelle personalisatie en kostenefficiëntie in vergelijking met andere productiemethoden. Handbeschilderde producten zijn gemakkelijk aan te passen maar erg duur, terwijl transferproducten een grote oplage vereisen. Robotisch schilderen vormt een goed alternatief dat zowel eenvoudig te personaliseren als betaalbaar is.

Tot slot werd een ontwerp gepresenteerd voor de implementatie van de robot in het productieproces van Royal Delft. Het concept werd gevalideerd met een demonstratieproduct, een demonstratiedag in het museum en een gesprek met de accountmanagers van Royal Delft. De resultaten waren veelbelovend, en de robot zou een waardevolle aanvulling kunnen zijn voor Royal Delft.

Mischa de Haan werkt momenteel bij de ontwerpafdeling van Royal Delft.
