## Major Preparation Requirements
### Required Courses
- Disability studies 1 - recommended to be completed at UCLA
**Take one course from each of the following areas:**
- One course in social theory or introduction to sociology
- Culture and society or introduction to sociology
- One course in race, identity and society
- Introduction to Black studies, Introduction to American Indian studies, History of Asian Americans, Introduction to Chicana/o studies: history and culture or introduction to Chicana/o studies: social structure and contemporary conditions, introduction to gender studies, or introduction to labor and workplace studies
- One course in humanities and ethics
- Introduction to ethical theory or integrative approaches to human biology and society
- One course in data analytics/statistics
**NOTE**:
- Students are admitted as a pre-major until completion of disability studies 1 at UCLA is completed.
- A supplemental application must be submitted no later than spring quarter of their first year of UCLA.
