If you’re a prospective first-generation student, you will be in good company here. Nearly 30% of our undergraduate students are the first in their family to attend college.
Read on to familiarize yourself with the array of resources and services available to you.
## First To Go
Your first stop for planning to attend UCLA should be [First To Go](https://firsttogo.ucla.edu/), a resource office that supports future first-gen Bruins. A “first-generation college student” is defined as a student whose parent/guardian has not received a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree. You can explore scholarship resources available to first-generation students as well as undocumented or DACA students.
Curious what other first-gen students have to say about Bruin life? [Discover their stories in the student spotlights](https://firsttogo.ucla.edu).
The [First To Go Living Learning Community](https://reslife.ucla.edu/living-learning/first-to-go) provides an inclusive living environment for Bruins who identify as first-generation college students.
## First-Gen Faculty
More than 180 of our professors (and counting) proudly identify as former first-generation college students. They share their stories to offer you support and encouragement.
## First-Gen Network for Alumni
Every year, hundreds of students graduate and join the First-Gen Network for alumni.
The association serves first-gen alumni from all backgrounds, providing social and professional engagement, community outreach and mentorship opportunities through events, networking and community service.
