## Major Preparation Requirements

### Required courses

- One year of calculus
- One year of calculus-based physics
- One semester of general chemistry with laboratory

### Strongly recommended courses

- One course in C++ programming or MATLAB for geoscientists
- Climate science
- Introduction to undergraduate research in atmospheric and oceanic sciences
- A second semester of general chemistry with lab
