Jason De Leon’s book, “Soldiers and Kings: Survival and Hope in the World of Human Smuggling” has been selected on the longlist for the 2025 PEN America Literary Awards! Every year, the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award honors a book-length work of any genre for its uniqueness, value, and effect. It does this by pushing the boundaries of its form and indicating a great potential for enduring influence. Candidates will be nominated internally by a renowned team of judges. At the annual PEN America Literary Awards Ceremony in New York City, the author of the winning book is recognized and given a $75,000 award.
