Program Description

Much of what is planned and designed needs to be built or constructed. The goals of the Undergraduate Minor in Construction Management are to prepare students with fundamental leadership and technical skills to accomplish these tasks, and to promote a greater understanding of the relationships among construction and other professionals to students in the various engineering disciplines and other majors who envision becoming involved in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of our built systems.

The minor has only one required course, with the remaining courses selected from the Construction Management electives, which allows students to select courses that best satisfy their interests and complement their curricula.

Applying for the Minor

Apply for a minor in Albert using the link in the My Academics section of the Student Center.

Students should apply for the minor before applying for graduation. After applying for the minor, the application is then forwarded to the Home School Advising Office, Host School Advising Office, Host School Department/Program, and the Academic Dean’s office.

The departmental advisers governing the minor will have access to approve or disapprove the minor online using the Graduation Tracking Search page. If a student is registered for a course for the minor during their last semester, the adviser can still set the status to departmental approved pending current courses.

Program Requirements

A basic understanding of construction is necessary to take full advantage of the courses in the Construction Management curriculum. CE-UY 2533 Construction Project Management is required for the minor, as well as for all students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program. Two CE-UY 25X3 courses must be completed before a student can enroll in any CE-UY 35XX or CE-UY 45XX courses, CE-UY 4643, or CE-UY 4853.
