# Climate Corps Summer School

The [Climate Corps Summer School](https://sustainability.korea.ac.kr/education/climate.html) 2026, hosted by Korea University, is an initiative that unites higher education institutions to co-generate impactful solutions for climate crisis. It harnesses the collective expertise, resources, and influence of member universities. Climate Corps aims to create a collaborative platform across disciplines and institutions, facilitating knowledge sharing, fostering innovative solutions, and driving the implementation of effective strategies to combat climate crisis.

Under the theme of “Cross-border Collaboration to Address the Climate Crisis”, the week will comprise a series of talks on climate technology, business, and policy.

Site visits will inspire the participants with the cutting-edge locations to showcase the urban planning, energy policy, waste management and waste management of Seoul Metropolitan City Government, and the energy storage technology and the climate tech start-up incubation.

For students: Participants will team up with colleagues from around the world to develop new research proposals, entrepreneurial project plans and/or policy suggestions mentored by participating faculty members.

#### Application Requirements:

Complete the Global Enrichment Experiences application (below) and include:

1. A short statement outlining your genuine commitment to finding climate crisis solutions and how participation in this experience can help your employability. (maximum 2 paragraphs).
2. UQ studies report (downloaded from [mySI-net](https://sinet.uq.edu.au/)).

#### Experience Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to participate in this global enrichment experience, you must:

- be a current:
  - Advanced-level undergraduate student (third year or higher)
  - Graduate student (Master)
  - PHD candidates
- Show a genuine interest in finding solutions for the climate crisis
- be aged 18+
- be selected by UQ and nominated
- not due to graduate before the completion of the experience
- agree to UQ's Global Experiences [Terms and Conditions](https://employability.uq.edu.au/uq-global-experiences-terms-and-conditions)

#### Exams and assessments

It is your responsibility to ensure that participation in a Global Enrichment Experience does not impact your exams or assessments at UQ. Please be aware that you may not be eligible for deferred or supplementary exams or assessments if there is a conflict.

#### Costs and Accommodation

The participation mode of this experience is [Study Abroad](https://employability.uq.edu.au/get-edge/global-experiences/short-term-experiences/short-term-experiences-explained), meaning you are responsible for paying all associated fees directly to the host or via a payment method communicated to you by Global Experiences.

The program is on a fee-waiver basis (free) and includes complementary accommodation. Please refer to the [Climate Corps Summer School website](https://sustainability.korea.ac.kr/education/climate.html) for their updates about accommodation information and other inclusions for the 2026 program.

All other costs, including food, flights, visa/entry permit (if required), vaccinations/medical clearance (if required) and discretionary spending, are the responsibility of the participants.

#### Insurance

Students will be covered by [UQ's Corporate Travel Insurance](https://governance-risk.uq.edu.au/functions-and-services/insurance/policies-and-certificates-currency/travel-insurance) for the duration of the experience. If you plan to travel for a longer duration than the experience covers, or outside the country of the experience, you are liable for the cost of additional travel and health insurance.

#### Funding

As this experience is on a fee-waive basis, no additional funding is available from the Global Experiences team.

If you participate in a short-term program, you may also be eligible to submit an application for an [OS-HELP loan](http://www.uq.edu.au/myadvisor/os-help-21170) **if your program is for-credit** and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth-supported student.

###### Application Deadlines

OS-HELP loan applications open on 5 January each year.

OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:

- any earlier than 6 months before the official start date of your overseas study
- any later than 3 months before the official end date of your overseas study.
