The New Colombo Plan is an Australian Government initiative that helps Australian undergraduate students build their understanding of the Indo-Pacific region. It provides funding for study, language training and internships overseas through two main programs:

### New Colombo Plan Scholarship Program

The [NCP Scholarship Program](https://global-partnerships.uq.edu.au/sponsorships/new-colombo-plan/scholarship) supports students with up to $100,000 AUD to study at a university in an eligible Indo-Pacific country for at least one semester. You can also take part in language training and internships while overseas.

How to apply:

- You must apply to be considered one of UQ’s nominees.
- Applications open once a year for programs starting the following calendar year; there is one deadline (usually May/June) for students commencing their studies overseas in either semester 1 or 2.
- Additional [eligibility criteria](http://global-engagement.uq.edu.au/ncp-scholarship) apply, so be sure to check the full details before applying.

### New Colombo Plan Mobility Program

The NCP Mobility Grant Program helps cover costs for short-term or semester-based overseas experiences that count towards your degree.\
Key points:

- No additional application is needed; if your UQ application for exchange or short-term study is successful, you’ll automatically be considered.
- Funding is limited and not guaranteed, even if you meet all the criteria.
- Supported experiences and funding availability change each year.
- For the latest details on current opportunities, check the links provided below.

#### Eligibility for NCP Mobility Grant

- Submit a successful application with both UQ’s Global Experiences team and the host organisation.
- Be approved to receive academic credit for your overseas experience.
