### Are you an international student?

Learning about your host country’s culture in the workforce is a particularly transferable attribute for international students. Whilst you are in Australia you may have the opportunity to do an internship or start a job.

In addition to the information provided on these pages by UQ on the topic of careers and employability, the [Queensland](https://www.studyqueensland.qld.gov.au/) and [Australian](http://www.studyaustralia.gov.au/) Governments have created a range of helpful resources for international students seeking to have the experience of being in an Australian workplace.

### Understanding your work rights

For all students, when undertaking any work or experience, paid or unpaid, you’re also entitled to all legal workplace rights, refer to The Fair Work Act 2009. Should you have concerns visit the [Fair Work Ombudsman](http://www.fairwork.gov.au/) website for information.  If you have any concerns with your university placement, your Course Coordinator is also available for you to talk with.

[Need a Working with Children check (Blue Card)?](https://employability.uq.edu.au/work-integrated-learning/blue-card-apply)
