The University of Nottingham Ningbo Campus has been a pioneer in global education and sustainable technology. It was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China and is home to China's first carbon-neutral building.

The University of Nottingham Ningbo is in the Yinzhou district of Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on China’s prosperous east coast. A thriving port and business city, Ningbo is well located for travel to Shanghai, with high-speed rail links connecting the two cities in around 2 hours.

60 credits per semester at UNNC is equivalent to 8 UQ units.

Crosscheck the courses you found in the host course catalogue with the [Credit Precedent Database](http://creditprecedents.app.uq.edu.au/) to see if UQ credit has previously been granted. The database should be used as a general guide only. Few courses from each host will be in the database and many course precedents in the database may have expired. ## Academic restrictions

UNNC [Language Centre](https://www.nottingham.edu.cn/en/language-centre/index.aspx) cannot offer a full-time study load of Chinese language courses.

## Additional academic information

UNNC accepts Chinese nationals (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) for exchange.

**Course Numbering & Course Selection**\
When selecting your courses from UNNC online course catalogue:

- The first digit of the module code indicates the module level, e.g.AS**3**001 China and the World is a Level 3 course. For more detail please refer to [UNNC fact sheet](https://employability.uq.edu.au/files/106079/Nottingham%20Ningbo%202019-2020%20fact%20sheet.pdf) page 6.
- Undergraduate exchange students are recommended to select Level 2 and Level 3 modules, subject to having satisfied prerequisites requirements.
- Level 0 courses are foundation courses.
- Level 4 courses are restricted to postgraduate students.

## Accommodation

UNNC has [several residences designated for international students](https://www.nottingham.edu.cn/en/accommodation/home.aspx). As an exchange student, you are guaranteed an offer of accommodation in one of these residences. You can also choose to live off-campus, however, there are formal procedures you will need to go through.

## Cost of living

## Financial support

[A range of funding](https://employability.uq.edu.au/financial-support) for student exchange including scholarships, grants and loans are available to UQ students.

There are some [scholarships offered to exchange students](https://www.nottingham.edu.cn/en/global/scholarship/entry-scholarship.aspx) at UNNC. Students are encouraged to check their eligibility for UNNC scholarships.

- Ningbo International Student Government Scholarships for Academic Excellence (RMB3,000 per semester).
- UNNC Exchange Scholarships (one-off payment of RMB3,000).

## Insurance

Students approved to participate in a Semester-based Exchange are automatically covered by UQ’s Travel Insurance for the country of their host university only.

If you plan to travel outside of your host country, you should purchase additional insurance.

## Organise your visa

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa for the country where you will be studying. As the Global Experiences team is not a visa-issuing authority we cannot provide visa advice.

## Travel risk levels

The University of Queensland cannot and does not allow students to travel to any country with [a risk level of 3](http://smartraveller.gov.au/resources/pages/travel-advice-explained.aspx) (Reconsider your need to travel) or above, as assessed by the Australian Government.

If a country's risk level changes to 3 or above, experiences to that country are suspended until the risk level improves.
