# Parking at St Lucia

Students, staff and visitors must pay to park from **Monday to Friday between 7am and 9pm**. Parking is free outside these hours and on weekends.

## Parking options

- Students, staff and visitors can pay to park casually by the hour, with a capped daily rate. The rates are listed below.
- Staff can [apply for a fixed or flexible parking permit](https://about.uq.edu.au/campuses-facilities/parking-zones-rates-and-permits/permit-parking).
- [Persons with Disability (PWD) permit parking](https://about.uq.edu.au/campuses-facilities/parking-zones-rates-and-permits/accessible-parking) is free and is available in most zones.

## Casual rates

The zone you park in will determine how much you pay, and how long you can park. Generally, zones near the centre of campus have higher rates than zones on the outskirts of campus. ### Students

To claim the student rate, you must [register as a student in the PayStay app](https://about.uq.edu.au/campuses-facilities/parking-zones-rates-and-permits/pay-casual-parking).

#### Student residents

UQ students who live in colleges or residences can start a weekly parking session in the Sir William MacGregor Drive blue zone in PayStay for $30.75.

### Staff

#### COMING SOON pay-as-you-go boomgate

A boomgate will be installed in the green zone P1-P4 car park in the coming months. This will enable staff to park in the green zone without a permit for $6.40 per day. Pay at the boomgate on exit.

#### Reserved parking for clinics and events

Contact your clinic for parking arrangements for your appointment.

For visitors attending campus events, the event coordinator will advise if reserved parking is available.

#### Contractors and sub-contractors

Individual contractors and sub-contractors can park and pay in the blue, grey and red zones. If multiple parks are required, liaise with your UQ project manager.

## Service and commercial parking

- Free parking up to 2 hours for any service and commercially registered vehicles in designated bays.
- Drivers can also use loading zones (up to 30 minutes, unless otherwise signed).
- Construction contractors and sub-contractors cannot use these spaces and are subject to visitor rates.

#### Short-term loading vehicles (loading zones)

- Free parking for up to 30 minutes **at all times**.
