## Full-time study load

60 credits at the University of Leeds is equivalent to 8 UQ units.

## Host university requirements

**GPA**\
You will need a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.5 to study at Leeds.

**Study Options**\
Not applicable to this university (for UQ application purposes). You can choose courses from any of the faculties at Leeds which are open to exchange students, however, there are numerous course restrictions outlined below.

**Semester Restrictions**\
Students wishing to study for a full year must commence their exchange in UQ Semester 2.

**Other Restrictions**\
For students on exchange in UQ semester 2, Leeds cannot produce your official transcript until July in the following year (even if you finish your studies at Leeds in January). Provisional exam results will be emailed to UQ in late February in the following year and official transcripts will be posted to UQ in August the following year for credit transfer processes. It should be noted that if you go on exchange to Leeds in your final year, it will delay your UQ graduation.

**Note**: Host university eligibility criteria are at the discretion of the host and may change without notice.

## Find courses

Please read over ["](https://www.leeds.ac.uk/incomingstudy)[What can I study](https://www.leeds.ac.uk/international-exchange-and-study-abroad/doc/can-i-study)["](https://www.leeds.ac.uk/incomingstudy) to understand the modules exchange studnets are able to study at Leeds.

Search the [Leeds course catalogue](http://webprod3.leeds.ac.uk/catalogue/modulesearch.asp?T=S&L=UG).

Ensure you search for the correct level of courses - see "Additional Academic Information" below for more detail.

Crosscheck the courses you found in the host course catalogue with the [Credit Precedent Database](http://creditprecedents.app.uq.edu.au/) to see if UQ credit has previously been granted. The database should be used as a general guide only. Few courses from each host will be in the database and many course precedents in the database may have expired. Note, the credit precedent database does not replace the host course catalogue. If a course is not listed in the CPD, you can still ask for it to be assessed on your study plan.

- Writing
- Japanese / Korean

**Course Restrictions**\
The university provides a full list of [course restrictions and considerations](https://www.leeds.ac.uk/international-exchange-and-study-abroad/doc/check-academic-subject-requirements).

The following programs are in high demand and fill up very quickly:

- Psychology
- Business
- Communication Studies
- English
- History
- Law (students majoring in Law have priority for registration)
- Politics
- Sociology and Social Policy

Historically the majority of **Law** modules were taught across the full year however from the 2020-21 academic year and beyond it’s expected that most modules will be taught in a single semester to help accommodate Incoming Study Abroad students wanting to study in our School of Law.

The following programs' courses are also generally taught full-year, making them not suitable for single-semester exchange students. It is not recommended to have these courses as your full study load:

- Design
- Mechanical engineering (including Aerospace Engineering)
- Chemical and Process Engineering
- Healthcare

**Disciplines/Faculties Restrictions**\
The following are not open to exchange students at Leeds:

## Additional academic information

**Course Numbering**

The first number in the module code refers to the level at Leeds 1, 2 or 3. Degrees only last three years in England, so even if you will be in your third year of study while you are at Leeds, this does not mean you will automatically be accepted for level 3 modules. Level 5 refers to postgraduate level modules.

Leeds provides [visa and immigration information](http://www.leeds.ac.uk/studyabroadvisa) for incoming exchange students.

Contact the [British High Commission](https://www.gov.uk/world/australia#/world/coming-to-the-uk-australia) for more visa information.

## Travel risk levels

The University of Queensland cannot and does not allow students to travel to any country with [a risk level of 3](http://smartraveller.gov.au/resources/pages/travel-advice-explained.aspx) (Reconsider your need to travel) or above, as assessed by the Australian Government.

If a country's risk level changes to 3 or above, experiences to that country are suspended until the risk level improves.

Find out the risk level and travel advice, and sign up to receive updates for your host country on the [Smartraveller website](http://smartraveller.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx).
