Creating connections through sport.

## Big opportunities and big ideas

The Queensland Centre for Olympic and Paralympic Studies (QCOPS) is a multidisciplinary research centre in Brisbane, the host city of the 2032 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We are a hub for innovation and research on big issues and ideas related to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and sport and health more broadly.

We connect leading thinkers from academia, industry, government and community through our networks to drive innovation, foster transformative partnerships, and create a lasting impact beyond Brisbane 2032.

We invite you to join us in shaping the future. To partner with QCOPS, email [cops@uq.edu.au](mailto:cops@uq.edu.au)

## What we do

QCOPS hosts research and initiatives that benefit not just sportspeople, but the broader community.

We collaborate with our partners to develop knowledge in:

- **Athlete performance**. We enhance athlete performance and experience through sport science and technology.
- **The business of sport**. Our research spans mega events, tourism and sports management.
- **Community engagement**. We host lectures, community events and educational programs to widen participation in sport.
- **Healthy and sustainable communities**. We harness the opportunities of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to create lasting benefit in communities.
- **Sporting history and culture**. We critically examine ethical and sociocultural issues around sport in Australia and the Pacific region.

### Building Brisbane 2032 legacy

The responsibility of hosting the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games extends far beyond sport, with organisers expected to produce lasting benefits for host cities and surrounding regions.

QCOPS works closely with UQ’s [Office of 2032 Games Engagement](https://about.uq.edu.au/strategy-values/2032-games) – the coordinating body for the University’s involvement with the Games.

As active members of our community, our experts will contribute their knowledge in diverse areas of Olympic and Paralympic sport and health, to ensure the Games leave a positive legacy for our region, and beyond.
