Notice on the 3rd SJTU Academic Presentation Competition for Doctoral Students

Jointly organized by the Graduate School and the School of Foreign Languages, the 3rdSJTU Academic Presentation Competition for Doctoral Students provides research students with the opportunity to further develop their academic, presentation, and research communication skills through showcasing their research to a broad audience.

**About the competition**

This competition challenges participants to communicate the significance of their projects to an intelligent but non-specialist audience in just three minutes.

**Eligibility**

Active doctoral students of SJTU are eligible to participate in the competition.

**Rules for the competition**

- Presentations are limited to three minutes and competitors exceeding three minutes are disqualified.
- One single static slide is permitted (no slide transitions or animations).
- No additional props (e.g. costumes, musical instruments, laboratory equipment, animated backgrounds) are permitted.
- No additional electronic media (e.g. sound and video files) are permitted within the presentation.
- Presentations are to be spoken word (e.g. no poems, raps or songs).
- Presentations are considered to have commenced when the presenter starts the presentation through movement or speech (timing does not include the presenter’s title slide).
- The decision of the adjudicating panel is final.
- Speakers should present in professional attire.

**Timeline for the competition:**

1.November 24th, 2021, 12:20-4:00 p.m., DXY205, Minhang campus.

2.The best competitors will be eligible to participate in2021 SJTU Global Competence English Speaking Competition for Doctoral Students to be held on December 8th, 2021, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

2.Submit slides before November 20th, 2021 to phdpresentation@163.com (add a title slide to the front of the single static slide and name the slide file with your own name).
