March 10, 2026 Page views: 31
On March 3, Liu Weidong, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, met with a delegation led by Hanna Snellman, Vice President of the University of Helsinki, at the Minhang Campus.
Liu Weidong extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. He noted that the two universities share highly aligned disciplinary strengths and development strategies, offering broad prospects for collaboration. He expressed hope that, by leveraging the Universitas 21 (U21) network and the two institutions’ shared partners, the universities could further expand in-depth cooperation in areas such as joint degree programs, interdisciplinary research, and student mobility.
Snellman introduced the recent developments at the University of Helsinki. She expressed her expectation that the two sides could promote deeper engagement among researchers through joint academic seminars and other initiatives, focusing on areas such as urban ecology and sustainable development, so as to further expand fields of cooperation and continuously enhance their strategic partnership.
After the meeting, the delegation held discussions with representatives from the School of International and Public Affairs and toured the Student Innovation Center.
Representatives from the Office of International Affairs Division, the Student Innovation Center, the School of International and Public Affairs, and the School of Agriculture and Biology also attended the meeting.
The University of Helsinki is Finland’s top comprehensive research university and consistently ranks first nationally, with notable strengths in disciplines such as ecology, agricultural sciences, and medicine.
