From 12 September to 21 September 2024, the KU Leuven Summer Program in Chinese Law was successfully conducted at KoGuan School of Law. The program, comprised of 63 students from Belgium, was led by Professor Bernard Henri Tilleman, former Dean of the Faculty of Law and Criminology, Professor Annick De Boeck, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Criminology Brussels Campus, Ms. Angélique Michèle A. Deprez, and Ms. Judith Elisabeth Hollevoet, Ms. Lise Bertje R. Van den Eynde.

This program in Chinese Law selected a number of courses on Chinese law and taught fully in English. The curriculum covered a wide range of subject areas such as Chinese constitutional law, Chinese society and Chinese law, the regulation of digital platforms, contract law, intellectual property law, and so on. Professors from the KoGuan School of Law patiently and meticulously explained many Chinese law theories to Belgian students, and held lively discussions with them on cutting-edge legal issues in the development of contemporary society.

In order to let the students have a more intuitive experience of the rule of law in China, the program also organized a couple field trips to the Shanghai Minhang District People's Court, the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SIAC) and other legal-practice institutions. All the students agreed that they had a clear understanding of China's legal normative system, as well as a deeper understanding of the rule of law and legal practice in China.

In addition to the courses and visits, a series of cultural and traveling activities were arranged for the program, which enabled the students to experience the profound heritage and unique charm of traditional Chinese culture.

Since 2018, KoGuan School of Law and KU Leuven Faculty of Law and Criminology have successfully organized the Summer Program in Chinese Law. Such a program has strongly promoted international exchanges and co-operation between the two institutions.
