SJTU Leaders Meet with the President of the University of New South Wales (UNSW)

On November 18, 2025, Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, met with Professor Attila Brungs, President of the University of New South Wales, and a delegation from UNSW at the Minhang Campus. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening inter-university cooperation and expanding areas of collaboration. Vice President Liu Weidong and representatives from relevant administrative and academic units also attended.
Yang Zhenbin extended a warm welcome to Attila Brungs and his delegation. He noted that Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of New South Wales have built a solid foundation in joint scientific research and have achieved a series of fruitful outcomes. Looking ahead, he expressed hope that the two universities will further innovate cooperation models, broaden areas of collaboration, and, building on existing partnerships, strengthen humanities and cultural exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between faculty and students of China and Australia. He expressed his expectation that this meeting would serve as an opportunity for both sides to deepen practical cooperation and jointly create a model of collaborative innovation in international hig600her education.
Attila Brungs spoke highly of the strong foundation of collaboration between the two universities, noting that Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of UNSW’s most important partners in China. He stated that UNSW will continue to advance faculty and student exchanges and deepen research cooperation between the two universities. He also emphasized the strong potential of the university–industry–research cooperation model, expressing hope that the two institutions can integrate their strengths in scientific research with industry resources and market needs to open broader avenues for cooperation in cutting-edge technological fields.
Yang Zhenbin and Attila Brungs, on behalf of their respective institutions, renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a new stage in the partnership between the two universities.
The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is a public research university with its main campus located in Sydney, Australia. Founded in 1949, UNSW is a member of the Group of Eight, Universitas 21, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), and several other leading international academic alliances.
