The School of Pharmacy at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was established on February 26, 2000, as a joint initiative between SJTU and the Shanghai Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry. The School upholds SJTU’s tradition of academic excellence and is committed to building a world-class pharmacy institution. It follows a comprehensive talent development model that integrates knowledge acquisition, skill-building, character development, and value orientation.

Undergraduate education forms our foundation, while graduate research propels us forward. We take full advantage of our robust academic structure and top-tier research capabilities, balancing rigorous teaching with groundbreaking research. Our mission is to produce the next generation of highly competitive, research-driven leaders in the pharmaceutical sciences.

Over the years, the School has made remarkable strides in its mission to build a comprehensive pharmaceutical research ecosystem and excel in emerging fields. Our Pharmacy discipline earned national A-level distinction in 2016 and was included as part of China’s “Double First-Class” initiative in 2017. Currently, Pharmacology and Toxicology ranks 8th globally in the US News Best Global Universities rankings, is in the top 0.1% in ESI global rankings, and ranks 73rd in QS subject rankings. Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences ranks 13th in the ARWU Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

The School has assembled a distinguished faculty team that includes academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, chair professors, distinguished professors, and tenured faculty, forming a core team of mid-career and early-career academic leaders. Additionally, the School leads research in fields such as medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, and natural products. Our faculty have published hundreds of influential papers in top-tier journals such as Science, Immunity, and Nature Microbiology, obtained clinical trial approvals for new drugs, achieved successful technology transfers, and received major national awards (including the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award and the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award).

Tenured Professor / Tenured Associate Professor

Demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence and ethical conduct
Hold a Ph.D. with a strong record in teaching, research, and service
Recognized by peers for major contributions in their field, with distinctive academic viewpoints or significant research achievements
Able to lead the development of disciplinary teams and guide academic planning based on institutional goals

Tenure-Track Associate Professor

Demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence and ethical conduct
Be under the age of 38
Hold a Ph.D. and have at least three years of research experience in a relevant field
Show strong research potential and the ability to conduct independent studies, teach courses, and supervise Ph.D. students
Have a clear research direction aligned with the School’s development and faculty teams
