On December 8, 2024, the third "China through My Eyes"--the award ceremony of the "Beautiful China" short video competition for international students in China and the fourth launch ceremony were held at the Guangzhou Pearl Bay International Climate Investment and Financing Conference. This competition was selected into the 2024 "Perceiving China" series of activities of the China Scholarship Council, hosted by the China Scholarship Council and undertaken by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It was supported by many media including Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai News Media Group, Shanghai Media Group, Tencent, and Eastday.com, and attracted nearly 1,000 international students from 50 countries to participate.

This competition selected 1 special prize, 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, and 13 third prizes. Compared with the previous two competitions, the content of the entries in this competition was richer and more diverse, and the form is more novel and unique. It not only shows the profound understanding and perception of China by international students in China, but also reflects their innovative ability and creativity in new media communication, presenting a more three-dimensional and vivid image of China through the eyes of international students. The special prize winner, Sandul Nikita, an international student from Hebei University from Russia, won unanimous praise from the judges and the audience for his practical tips for life in China, humorous interpretation, and unique shooting techniques. Haroon Hakimi, an international student from the School of Media and Communication of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, used drone photography to show the life scenes of the Hani people in China, and showed the unique charm of China's intangible cultural heritage from the perspective of international students. He was highly recognized by the judges and the audience and won the second prize.

"China through My Eyes" - The "Beautiful China" short video competition for international students in China aims to encourage international students to objectively and truly show "China through the eyes of international students" from a first-person perspective. While expressing true feelings and interesting discoveries, it shows China's national conditions, culture, social life and beautiful mountains and rivers to the world, and calls on all parties to work together to address climate change and seek a harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The competition is open to all international students with foreign nationality who are studying in China.

To date, Shanghai Jiao Tong University has successfully held this event for three consecutive years, which not only provides a platform for international students in China to showcase themselves and improve their new media communication literacy, but also promotes the exchange of Chinese and foreign cultures and deepens the understanding and knowledge of China by people from all over the world. The event will continue to expand cooperation channels and communication platforms, so that more excellent works can shine on the world stage and contribute to telling China’s stories.
