The Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is a vital interface between global policies in the economic, social and environmental spheres and national action. Its work is guided by the universal, integrated and transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, along with a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 associated targets adopted by the UN General Assembly on 25 September 2015.

United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) facilitates cooperation and effective interaction with Vienna- and regionally-based partners in all areas of disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control. It represents the United Nations/UNODA in relevant Vienna-based intergovernmental processes and ensures timely analysis and reporting on developments related to UNODA's mandated areas of work. The Vienna Office also coordinates UNODA efforts and programmes to provide for and promote opportunities in disarmament and non-proliferation education through online and in-person training courses and organization of outreach and dialogue events.

Its Beijing-based Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) fosters innovation in agricultural technology, advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through knowledge-sharing and regional collaboration.
