The [Center for NanoScience (CeNS)](https://www.cens.de "Link opens in a new window") was founded at LMU Munich in 1998. CeNS has the task of promoting and coordinating interdisciplinary research in the field of nanoscience in the Munich area. CeNS is an association of young scientists from basic research and industry and is conceived as a network that brings together people from different institutions (LMU, TU Munich, University of Augsburg and others).
