- LANG 5330

  Basic Spanish for International Management

  ### Course Description

  LANG5330 is a two-credit follow-up course designed for MSc in International Management students **who have completed [LANG1330](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/lang1330)**. It develops students’ Spanish proficiency with an emphasis on real-world interaction and practical communication. The course builds confidence in using Spanish in both academic and professional settings and provides cultural insights into Spanish-speaking business environments.

  ### Highlights

  - Real-world, business-oriented Spanish communication
  - Group-based cultural presentation on Spanish-speaking countries
  - Interactive and engaging classroom activities

  ### Assessments

  - **Pop Quizzes**: Short in-class quizzes to reinforce vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension
  - **Cultural Presentation**: Group presentation on cultural/business topics in a Spanish-speaking country
  - **Oral Assessment**: Pair-based role-play activity simulating real-life conversational scenarios
  - **Final Exam**: Includes listening, grammar, vocabulary, and short written tasks

  ### Target Students

  - **MSc International Management students** **only** who have completed **LANG1330**
  - Students interested in using Spanish in international business and multicultural professional settings
  - Restricted to those with **basic knowledge of Spanish** (A1.1 level)

  #### Course outcome

  By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  - Engage in basic factual conversations and express opinions
  - Understand and deliver short descriptions and messages
  - Read and write short texts relevant to business and everyday contexts
  - Apply accurate pronunciation and grammar in oral communication
  - Build cultural competence in Spanish-speaking professional environments
