## Hong Kong Overpopulation by Jessica Chen

---

This video discusses and highlights the issue of overpopulation that has been prevalent in Hong Kong over the many decades, mainly exploring the numerous challenges posed by rapid urbanization and population growth. The city is extremely limited in size, but that has not stopped the population from growing - whether from natural births of new generations or immigration, Hong Kong has had to cramp its immense population in the 1,100 square kilometers of land area that it has. The video aims to paint a vivid picture of the strains on housing, public infrastructure and services, and the negative environmental impacts through a combination of visual imagery, voiceover narration, interviews, and pop-ups. The idea behind the video was sparked by the initial meme creation of Hong Kong’s housing crisis, especially the difficulties of trying to find affordable housing in the city. Through further research, this became bigger than a housing crisis and turned into a facade of struggles that Hong Kong and its citizens have had to face and overcome.
