## Hong Kong style Milk Tea by Anson Leung King Wah

---

Hong Kong-style milk tea, often called "silk stocking milk tea", is a beloved beverage in “Cha Chaan Tengs”. The city drinks about 2.5 million cups of milk tea a year to kick-start the day (SCMP, 2019). While the caffeinated drink may appear to be just a drink, it represents so much more than that. Hong Kong-style milk tea is a cultural emblem rich in history and tradition, reflecting the popular culture in Hong Kong.
