### Courses for Pathway 2 SBM students

Students must take LANG 1406 (3 credits) followed by one of the [Advanced Communication courses](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) (3 credits) under the English Communication group.

After completing the above requirements, students may also take any other [Advanced Communication course](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) under the English Communication group, as free electives or as a substitute for credits in [CTDL or UxOP](https://uce.ust.hk/web/courses_2025/curriculum.html) Common Core areas.

### Courses for Pathway 2 SENG students

Students must take LANG 1407 (3 credits) followed by one of the [Advanced Communication courses](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) (3 credits) under the English Communication group.

After completing the above requirements, students may also take any other [Advanced Communication course](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) under the English Communication group, as free electives or as a substitute for credits in [CTDL or UxOP](https://uce.ust.hk/web/courses_2025/curriculum.html) Common Core areas.

### Courses for Pathway 2 SHSS students

Students must take LANG 1408 (3 credits) followed by one of the [Advanced Communication courses](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) (3 credits) under the English Communication group.

After completing the above requirements, students may also take any other [Advanced Communication course](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) under the English Communication group, as free electives or as a substitute for credits in [CTDL or UxOP](https://uce.ust.hk/web/courses_2025/curriculum.html) Common Core areas.

### Courses for Pathway 2 SSCI students

Students must take LANG 1409 (3 credits) followed by one of the [Advanced Communication courses](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) (3 credits) under the English Communication group.

Students on the **OST** program must then also take one of the following 3 credit courses: LANG 3025 (before Fall 2026) or LANG 4010 (from Fall 2026 onwards).

Students on the **IRE** program must also take LANG 3027 (3 credits).

In addition to the above requirements, students may also take any other [Advanced Communication course](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) under the English Communication group, as free electives or as a substitute for credits in [CTDL or UxOP](https://uce.ust.hk/web/courses_2025/curriculum.html) Common Core areas.

### Courses for Pathway 2 AIS students

Students must take either LANG 1406 or LANG 1407 or LANG 1408 or LANG 1409 (3 credits) followed by one of the [Advanced Communication courses](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) (3 credits) under the English Communication group.

Students on the **ISD** program must then also take one of the following 3 credit courses: LANG 4032 (before Fall 2025) or LANG 4036 (3 credits) (from Fall 2025 onwards). 

In addition to the above requirements, students may also take any other [Advanced Communication course](https://cle.hkust.edu.hk/courses/common-core/english#category-1) under the English Communication group, as free electives or as a substitute for credits in [CTDL or UxOP](https://uce.ust.hk/web/courses_2025/curriculum.html) Common Core areas.
