## [Work Abroad Internship Program in Europe](/work-abroad-program)
The Work Abroad Program offers students interested in opportunities in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland internships during the summer months. The program is open to all concentrations and allows students to integrate their expertise in their area of concentration with their knowledge of German language and culture.
## Study Abroad in Vienna, Austria, and Berlin, Germany
Based in the capitals of Germany and Austria, this eight-week program comprises two courses: one advanced German-language course and one cultural history course, conducted in English. Gain a critical overview of European literature, music, and the arts from the 19th century to the present, while exploring the vibrant capitals of Austria and Germany. Join other intermediate and advanced German-language students in strengthening your written and spoken skills while studying the cultural history of Vienna and Berlin. Your studies are complemented by frequent performances at the cities' concert halls, opera houses, and theaters, plus multiple excursions, including a visit to Prague. Information about the Summer 2026 opportunity will be posted in early 2026 on the [Harvard Summer School](https://summer.harvard.edu/study-abroad-programs/) website.
## Harvard German Club
The Harvard German Club is a gathering of Harvard’s German-speaking community. It provides a relaxed social setting for all Harvard affiliates to get to know each other and practice their German skills, whether by chatting over chicken wings at local restaurants during a weekly Stammtisch, by relaxing with an interesting German-language movie at Filmabend, or participating in quiz nights.
If you would like to be added to the German Club listserv for announcements about events and opportunities, please send an email to the German Club's faculty advisor Lisa Parkes ([lparkes@fas.harvard.edu](mailto:lparkes@fas.harvard.edu)) with the subject line: Join German Club.
## [Harvard Undergraduate Austrian German Association](https://www.huaga.org/)
The Harvard Undergraduate Austrian German Association (HUAGA) seeks to provide a space for students at Harvard with Austrian and German cultural backgrounds. Our mission consists of three components: Connect, Exchange, and Discuss. Information on events and how to join is available on the [HUAGA website](https://www.huaga.org/).
## Practice German during Kaffeestunde, German Table, Tafelrunde
Members of the German department organize various social events that give students extra conversational opportunities such as the weekly language tables in Leverett and Quincy House; Tafelrunde, a remote language practice hour in German organized jointly by the German programs at Harvard and CSU Long Beach; and the Department's weekly Kaffeestunde. Up-to-date information on language tables in the residental Houses can be found on the [Harvard College Calendar](https://calendar.college.harvard.edu/), using the House filter.
