Students enrolled at a PhD program in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University may achieve formal recognition for completing a secondary field in African and African American Studies.
Graduate students who have met all the course requirements for the degree may petition to be awarded an AM in African and African American Studies.
