Dr. Alta Mauro is the Associate Dean of Culture & Community. In this capacity, she guides a team of dedicated practitioners in embodying [the University’s community values](https://sites.harvard.edu/ccl/community-values/) at the College level, cultivating a pluralistic environment where all undergraduate students can thrive.
Previously, Alta had the pleasure of serving as the assistant dean and founding director of Spiritual Life & Intercultural Education at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD). There, she led institutional efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the intercultural competence of students, staff, and faculty.
Alta earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Working and mothering claim most of her attention but as of late, Alta is back to long walks with friends and listening to audio books while cooking and baking. She loves a game of Spades or chess, and listening/talking to smart people about the world around us is her favorite thing to do. Alta feels blessed to have traveled a good bit and is happy to be back to enjoying near-and-far places of the world with her family and close friends.
