Housing Day

Housing Day is designed to create a joyful, high-energy celebration that welcomes first-year students into their new residential communities. Through spirited House pride, meaningful connections with House staff and HoCos, special swag, and the opportunity to dine in their new House dining halls, the day provides a magical introduction and a warm hand-off into the next chapter of their Harvard experience. This campus-wide tradition builds excitement, belonging, and community pride as students officially join their new Houses.

Housing Day Morning

On Housing Day morning, members of each House Committee race to University Hall to pick up letters for their assigned first-year students. Together with throngs of cheering upper-level students, each House storms through the Yard to personally deliver letters and welcome each first-year student. Waiting is the hardest part for first-year students, but everyone is notified of their House assignment by 10am.

Housing Day Lunch

After the House reveal, the celebration continues in Annenberg with a spirited Housing Day lunch. Enjoy music, House pride, photo ops at our Housing Day backdrop, mascot appearances, and swag as you celebrate your new community together.

Housing Day Community Celebrations

Students are welcomed at each House with a special program and introductions to Faculty Deans, Resident Dean, House staff, and student leaders. First-year students will receive communications about their celebrations directly from their newly assigned communities after they learn their assignments.
