Mission
The Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning is a leading and integrated center, in alignment with FAS and university priorities, that actively partners with units across the FAS and the university in charting the course of innovative teaching and learning in the FAS, the university, and higher education more broadly.
Working closely with all members of the FAS teaching and learning community – from Harvard undergraduate Course Assistants, Harvard graduate student Teaching Fellows, Teaching Assistants, and postdoctoral fellows, to non-ladder faculty, as well as tenure-track and tenured faculty, the Bok Center strives to continually reimagine and adapt courses, and teaching, learning, and professional growth more broadly, given rapid changes in higher education, technology, and society.
The Bok Center is committed to creativity, experimentation, innovation, and evidence-based practices that create transformational learning experiences. It is also committed to creating dynamic learning communities and fostering meaningful connections – among students, among instructors, and between students and instructors – that enable all to thrive.
