Sophomore Mentoring

Work with a mentor from the residential staff of your new community who will help support your transition to sophomore year.

Sophomore year is an exciting time of transition. During your first year, you began to get acclimated to College life, and now as a sophomore, you will continue to explore your path and work to discern your goals and future plans.

Sophomore Mentoring is a year-long program in which you will be matched 1:1 with a Resident Tutor in your House or the Dudley Community. Your mentor will support your transition to your new residential community, facilitate reflection on your goals and plans for the year, and help you connect with campus resources. You will meet your mentor and your sophomore mentoring cohort (other sophomores sharing the same mentor) at your residential community’s Sophomore Orientation.

Throughout the year, you will have a series of 1:1 and group meetings with your mentor and cohort. In the fall term, you will set goals for the year, and with the support of your mentor, you will develop strategies to meet your goals. You also will think together about supporting your overall wellbeing. In the spring term, your mentor will help you continue to develop your goals and think about your plans for the summer and the transition to junior year.

The sophomore mentoring program complements the academic advising you will receive from your Pre-Concentration and Concentration Advisors. Overall, your mentoring relationship will provide holistic support to navigate your sophomore year at the College.
