All foreign students studying at Yonsei University are obliged to be insured by Korea National Health Insurance while attending school to prepare for unexpected accidents or diseases. Health insurance-related regulations and enrollment information will be individually notified by email after completing registration.

When students enter Korea and make the certificate of alien registration after receiving D-2 visa in their home country, subscription to National Health Insurance will be processed automatically. (※ Students cannot subscribe to National Health Insurance prior to arriving in Korea.)

It will take around 6 to 8 weeks to apply for and receive the Alien Registration Card. In other words, the subscription to National Health Insurance Corporation will be processed in 6 to 8 week period. This results in a 6-8 weeks where one will not be covered by insurance.

Thus the school recommends international students to subscribe to a personal insurance valid for 2 to 3 months from the moment of arrival to Korea.

Please check the details at [Yonsei Life > Health & Social Security](https://gosc.yonsei.ac.kr/gosc/life/insurance01.do "Health Insurance.").
