E-1 Professor Visa

###### [Eligibility]

Individuals who seek to give lectures or conduct a special study at a college or university for more than 90 days. New international faculty members are required to obtain an E-1 Professor visa (hereinafter, E-1 visa) in order to enter Korea and perform work at Yonsei University. If he/she is expected to work less than 90 days, other working visas like C-4 are applicable.

Yonsei OIA grants E-1 visas to tenure-track professors employed by the Office of Academic Affairs only. Other professors seeking working visa must consult with the office of their designated department/research institute.

###### [How to Apply]

- Option 1: E- Visa Application
  - In lieu of submitting documents to the OIA, professors may individually apply for E-1 visas through [www.visa.go.kr](https://www.visa.go.kr/ "Yonsei").
  - E-visa policy is a policy which issues an electronic visa to those who do not need to visit a Korean Embassy/Consulate for a consul interview to obtain a visa, such as professors and researchers.
- Option 2: Submitting documents through the OIA
  - Refer to the following list of required documents and submit them to [ifaculty@yonsei.ac.kr](mailto:ifaculty@yonsei.ac.kr "Yonsei").
  - It usually takes about 4~8 weeks from the date of application to receive your visa issuance approval number.
  - Once the Immigration Office notifies the OIA of your visa issuance approval number, details will be sent to you via e-mail.
  - Please provide the visa issuance approval number to your nearest Republic of Korea Embassy or Consulate to receive your E-1 visa.

E-3 Research Visa

Individuals seeking to engage in research activities at a research institute or respective college department.

###### [Application - Regular Applicants]

1. Applications must be made by the inviting party(research institute or respective college department)
2. Where to apply: Local immigration office in Korea
3. Required Documents

   2. 2) Passport
   3. 3) 1 color photo(3.5cm X 4.5cm)
   4. 4) 1 copy of Business Registration Certificate of Yonsei University

   6. 6) Document proving professional experiences(CV)
   7. 7) Employment contract
   8. 8) If applied by a 3rd party: a power of attorney, a proof of employment and representative IDs of staff member who is applying as a representative of the inviting party

F-3 Family Dependency Visa

###### [Eligibility]

Dependents are able to apply for Dependent Family (F-3) visa as an accompanying family member of D-1 to E-7 visas (except D-3 Industrial Trainee visas):

- Spouse
- Unmarried minor (under the age of 19 in Korean age) children

- Option 1: Direct Application
  1. Applicant: The person himself/herself
  2. Where to apply: The embassy or the consulate of the Republic of Korea
  3. Required Documents

     2. 2) Passport
     3. 3) 1 color photo(3.5cm X 4.5cm)
     4. 4) Documents proving the family relations (e.g., marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification on family relations records)(Chinese nationals must submit a resident card, marriage certificate, or census results)
     5. 5) Documents supporting your financial ability (e.g., proof of employment by the inviter, tax payment certificate). If you are unable to submit tax payment certificate (i.e., certain D-visas applicants when applying at the same time as the principal applicant) you can submit other financial documents instead.
- Option 2: Eligibility for Visa Issuance Confirmation
  - A visa issuance confirmation will be issued only to those who have applied with the applicants whom they are accompanying for the visa issuance confirmation.
  1. Applicant : the inviting party
  2. When a faculty staff is applying as a representative, the document of representative, a working certificate and a copy of ID are needed
  3. Where to apply: Local immigration office in Korea
  4. Required documents: Refer to the required documents listed above
