We know that affordability and flexibility are key when choosing a graduate program, as it’s an investment in your future career. For the most up-to-date information regarding tuition and fees for graduate students, please visit the CMU HUB.

Fellowships and assistantships

Ph.D. research assistantships

Ph.D. students can secure a research assistantship for up to five years that funds tuition and technology fees and provides a stipend for living expenses. Research assistantships require students to dedicate approximately 20 hours per week to teaching and research activities with faculty guidance in addition to their coursework.

Students are responsible for covering expenses such as health insurance, activity, and transportation fees, books, and course supplies.
