AI Curriculum: Master the Future of Artificial Intelligence

Carnegie Mellon has led the world in artificial intelligence education and innovation since the field was created.

In 2018, our School of Computer Science offered the nation's first bachelor's degree in artificial intelligence, and we continue to be a leader in AI education. We offer a broad and deep curriculum that reflects the impact of AI on careers and the skills needed to thrive in a tech economy.

We offer a host of degrees that will prepare you for creating, using and guiding the AI technology of the future. From our undergraduate degrees in computer science and computational biology — which allow you to do research — to our many master's and doctoral degrees. All of our programs give you the hands-on, problem-solving experience that sets a CMU degree apart from all others.

Artificial Intelligence Programs

Carnegie Mellon's renowned artificial intelligence program, ranked 2025’s #1 artificial intelligence program in the world, is known for its groundbreaking research and innovative technologies. Students in the program go far beyond fundamentals, reaching into the bleeding edge of technological possibilities to prepare for a more AI-centric future.

The School of Computer Science offers the world’s leading undergraduate bachelor of science in Artificial Intelligence, graduate-level Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Innovation, and graduate certificates in Generative AI. Additionally, undergraduate students enrolled at CMU can pursue artificial intelligence as a minor.

Machine Learning Programs

Since 2006, Carnegie Mellon’s Machine Learning Department has offered comprehensive academic programs, including Ph.D., Master's, and undergraduate options such as a Minor and Concentration in machine learning.

AI Engineering Graduate Programs
