Allen Newell Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research SCS Allen Newell Undergraduate Scholarship The Allen Newell Award for Research Excellence Allen Newell Garden Allen Newell Biography	Allen Newell always believed that hard work was its own reward. Great and honest efforts in the face of true research challenges bring great satisfaction and push science to its pinnacle. The scientific problem we pursue is always personal and must be one that challenges us for the long haul. But hard work and committed effort is usually what it takes to reach success: personally and scientifically. Allen realized that a kind word, small recognition, or just a heartfelt gesture were warranted, appropriate and appreciated in research. These scholarships are Allen's 'pat-on-the-back' for marshaling the effort, gumption and courage to face science squarely and objectively in the eye....wherever it leads us. Congratulations to our Newell Scholars!
