The socio-cultural behaviour of the human being is the focal point of science and research of the Faculty of Behavioural and Cultural Studies of Heidelberg University. The institutes of the faculty pursue a wide range of scientific questions. Their scheme of work is as independent as it is interdisciplinary, while scientific cooperation within the faculty is vividly supported.
Studium
Studies
The Faculty of Behavioural and Cultural Studies offers a wide range of high-quality Bachelor's and Master's programmes in the subjects of educational science, gerontology, psychology, socio-cultural anthropology, and sports science.\ The subjects gerontology, health and care and sports science are further offered as programmes qualifying for a career as a school teacher, while the Institute of Educational Science offers courses in educational science in programmes that qualify for teaching.

Doctorate
At the Faculty of Behavioural and Cultural Studies, a doctorate can be pursued in the subjects of education or educational science, gerontology, psychology, sociocultural anthropology and sports science.
Habilitation
Habilitation
The habilitation is the recognition of an extraordinary aptitude for research and teaching in a subject or subject area represented at the Faculty of Behavioural and Cultural Studies. The admission as a habilitation candidate requires a doctorate or equivalent academic degree in the subject or subject area and generally several years of experience in scientific work and teaching.
Quality Development and Safeguarding of Good Academic Practice
The Faculty of Behavioural and Cultural Studies puts great emphasis on good academic practice. In each subject area, the faculty tries to sensitize the students from the onset of their studies for the ethos of academic work. This includes courses about epistemology or ethics in science, but also the guidance on critical reading of scientific literature.\ Systematic quality management and development in the area of studies and teaching are the foundation for independent evaluation and accreditation of the faculty's Bachelor's and Master's programmes.
