Research
The IWR is one of Europe's leading institutions in the field of scientific computing. It hosts 60+ research teams from eight faculties and a dozen junior/independent groups. More than 600 scientists work together in challenging collaborative projects. Research at the IWR is interdisciplinary and strongly application-oriented.

Infrastructure
The IWR provides dedicated research infrastructure to its members, ranging from high-performance computing facilities to support programs for collaborative projects and from software licenses for the latest product versions to support funding for junior research groups. These services are open to all of our members – from group leaders to postgraduate students.

Training
Training of young researchers is a key mission of the IWR. As Heidelberg University is an institution of higher education focusing on research-intensive programs, principal investigators of our center also play a pivotal role in master's education and PhD development.
