# FORs Research Groups FORS

A research group (FOR) funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) is a close working alliance of several outstanding scientists from a university, sometimes in cooperation with researchers from other institutions, who work together on a medium-term - usually six-year (as of October 2018: up to eight years) - research project. Research groups often help to establish new fields of work.
