# Bachelor's Degree Programme BSc/BA Biology 50% with Teaching Degree Option
In the course of the conversion of the teacher degree programme to the Bachelor-Master system, the Bachelor's degree programme in Biology was introduced from the winter semester 2015/16 onwards.
The study programme in Biology follows a polyvalent and interdisciplinary approach.
By choosing the module **“Interdisciplinary Option”** in combination with a second STEM subject, the interdisciplinary approach can be pursued. Modern natural sciences are often interdisciplinary. The boundaries between the individual subjects are fluid. For certain specialisations - such as systems biology, for example - a combination of biology with mathematics or physics is ideal. The degree could then be continued in a **Master of Science programme**.
The study programme can be targeted towards a teaching profession by choosing a teaching profession module in the area of transferrable skills. In this way, the programme prepares students for the Master of Education with the goal of becoming a teacher at a Gymnasium.

Biology 50%
Biology is studied at a subject ratio of 50%. Depending on the choice of the second subject and the combination with a module in transferrable skills, different degrees and careers can be pursued.
Biology can be combined with subjects that are offered as school subjects. The combination of Biology with Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics/Informatics or Geography (= STEM subject) leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. In combination with other subjects, a Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded after successful completion of the programme.
