To continue your studies at the TU Berlin, you must re-register independently. Re-registration is therefore confirmation to the university administration that you will continue studying in the coming semester.

You can view all relevant information regarding your personal re-registration in your TU-portal (tuPORT).

To check whether your re-registration has been successfully completed, you have to open the App "Study & Teaching" and select the App "Registration and Re-registration requirements".

You can then download your enrollment certificate via TU-portal (tuPORT).

The Deutschlandsemesterticket is only available via the app of S-Bahn Berlin.

You are required to re-register within the re-registration deadline before the start of each new semester if you wish to continue to study at TU Berlin.

You can view all relevant information regarding your personal re-registration in your TU-portal (tuPORT).

Please always check after the semester change whether your re-registration was successful. Please also make sure that all conditions for re-registration have been met in TU-portal (tuPORT). The transfer of the semester fees does not automatically lead to successful re-registration if, for example, a mandatory document required for re-registration or also the proof of your degree - Master’s enrollment under reserve of revocation - is missing.

I am enrolled at another university in Berlin/Brandenburg as my primary university and I am a TU Berlin student with multiple enrollment and would like to re-register.

You need to re-register for the following semester by the end of the re-registration deadline. Please ensure that you register in full and by the deadline provided. With regard to the semester fees and contributions it means, that they have to be booked on the TU Berlin bank account until the end of the re-registration deadline. To initiate the transfer to our bank account on the last day of re-registration deadline is not sufficient. Please consider the respective bank terms.

A re-registration for the next semester after the deadline is only possible until the last day of the semester in which you are still registered. Note that you have to have already payed the late fee. Here, too, the date of receipt of the payment on the TU Berlin account applies, not the date of the transfer.

The current re-registration deadlines can be found here.

You will receive your notification of re-registration in good time to your TU email address. Not receiving the notification to re-register does not excuse you from the obligation to re-register as required. We recommend you regularly check your inbox for any new emails and ensure that your inbox has sufficient capacity. If you have previously experienced problems receiving emails, please contact IT support at ZECM.

What is multiple enrollment?

How can I change my student status?

I am current a TU Berlin student with multiple enrollment and would like to change my status to a student who primarily attend the TU Berlin:

International students receiving a scholarship that is mainly or fully financed from public federal or state funds are exempt from paying the 50-euro administration fee included in the semester fee for the duration of the scholarship pursuant to § 2 (8) BerlHG. Once your scholarship ends, the system will automatically charge you the full semester fee.

If your scholarship is renewed or if you enrolled before submitting proof of your scholarship, please inform the relevant bachelor’s or master’s team immediately by email wit the scholarship award letter. Otherwise, we are unable to waive the administration fee and you will be requested to pay the semester fee in full.

Please note that proof of your scholarship can only be considered for current and future semesters. Administration fees for past semesters for which you did not submit proof of scholarship will not be reimbursed. Only evidence of scholarships with a duration beyond half of the semester will be accepted.

As a rule, we can only accept proof from German scholarship providers.\ The Deutschlandstipendium is not mainly or fully financed from public state or federal funds. Beginning winter semester 2023/24, Deutschlandstipendium recipients will be required to pay the full administrative fee.

Official registration\ \ As a student of a Berlin university, your primary residence must be located within the university’s catchment area. Pursuant to Section 7 (1) sentence 2 of the Act on the Admission to Higher Education Institutions in the State of Berlin to Degree Programs with Restricted Admission, the catchment area is the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg. In accordance with the Federal Registration Act in its currently valid version, you are therefore required to register your residence with the authorities in the university's catchment area. Further information on registering with the Citizens' Registration Office (Bürgeramt) can be found on the website of Department VI International Affairs.\ \ Pursuant to Section 10 (6) no. 1a of the Berlin State Higher Education Act in its currently valid version, you must submit proof of your personal ID with a valid Berlin or Brandenburg address or the respective residence registration certificate, should you not have already done so at the time of enrollment. Alternatively, you can enter your currently registered Berlin or Brandenburg address in your TU-portal (tuPORT) by changing your personal data in the portal.\ \ We are obliged to inform you that violations of the obligation to register can be penalized with a fine according to the Federal Registration Act.\ \ Visiting students and doctoral students are exempt from this regulation. Students whose study program does not require them to live in the catchment area for the duration of their studies (such as extraoccupational master’s studies) are likewise exempt.
