Teachers undertake much of their work alone in lecture halls, seminar rooms, or online. However, they are far from alone when it comes to developing the right teaching and learning formats and practical considerations about how to implement their ideas in their courses. The experience and ideas of Technische Universität Berlin’s 3,000 teaching staff represent a huge source of knowledge. A number of formats aimed at promoting a culture of exchange are open to all teachers, support staff and students. Teaching can only improve if seen as a joint project with everyone contributing to its success!
Since 2012, the vice president for education at TU Berlin has hosted regular conventions to provide a forum outside of everyday life at the University for the strategic development of academics and teaching. Members of all status groups gather to share their experiences and to discuss innovative ideas and general issues in a uniquely free atmosphere. The event also creates a space to reflect on problems and barriers to effective teaching and work together to find the best solutions.
The conventions, which are held in the town of Ziethen, produced the [Ziethen Manifesto](https://www.tu-berlin.de/index.php?id=130390) aimed at achieving a “shift from teaching to learning“ and also laid the cornerstones for the [Mission Statement for Teaching](https://www.tu.berlin/ueber-die-tu-berlin/profil/leitbild-fuer-die-lehre/).

Practical workshops, discussion rounds, talks, practice reports and last but not least those all-important breaks for sharing experience in informal chats - these are just some of the formats on offer at [Teaching Day](https://www.tu-berlin.de/praesidialbereich/qualitaet/kulturwandel_in_der_lehre/tag_der_lehre/). Technische Universität has been hosting its Teaching Day since 2013. The event offers regular opportunities to share experiences, discuss ideas and present innovations in teaching. Different persons and groups are responsible for Teaching Day, depending on the event’s focus. In addition to this main event, individual faculties also organize their own Teaching Day programs to focus on specific topics.

The [Center for Scientific Continuing Education and Cooperation (ZEWK)](https://www.zewk.tu-berlin.de/v_menue/willkommen/) stages lunchtime events to provide an opportunity for teachers to present examples from their own practical experience and discuss these with their fellow teachers, support staff and students. Sharing experiences in this format raises awareness of examples of good teaching and serves as a source of inspiration for others. Audio files with slides are available so that you can review the talks at a later date!

The “Digital teaching at Technische Universität Berlin” blog allows you to browse through contributions and look for inspiration on specific topics, such as creating screencasts for teaching, as well as share your experiences with others. The blog brings together practical examples and experience reports on digital teaching from all subject areas at the University. There is also a “Digital Teaching” wiki to provide further guidance and support for digital teaching.\
