From Research to Product

Source: https://www.tu.berlin/en/research/knowledge-technology-transfer/technology-offers-patenting Parent: https://www.tu.berlin/en/studying

Patenting serves to protect inventions. However, any invention, no matter how brilliant, is only as good as the use that is made of it. Technology transfer is a way to ensure that the University’s research findings benefit both business and society.

The Center for Intellectual Property is Technische Universität Berlin’s main point of contact for all the University’s inventors as well as researchers from other institutions and interested parties from business.

Further Information

Patenting

Patents protect the rights of inventors and enable them to commercially exploit their inventions and ideas. Technische Universität Berlin supports its researchers throughout the entire patenting process, both financially and with advice.

Cooperation

Technische Universität Berlin maintains numerous cooperation agreements with technology businesses. This enables the University to make its scientific innovations commercially available. As a result, many technologies developed at TU Berlin are used in a wide range of products and equipment. Cooperation between business and the University takes place on a number of different levels.

Research

The Center for Intellectual Property not only deals with the practical issues of patenting and cooperation; it also conducts research on intellectual property law, as well as technological, commercial and business law and answers questions relating to intellectual property.

Transfer

The Centre for Entrepreneurship’s transfer team helps researchers to initiate and realize innovation and transfer projects with businesses. The transfer team also serves as first point of contact for businesses and investors seeking collaborative partners. Support for transfer initiatives is provided in close consultation with the University’s other units working in the area of transfer.
