TU Berlin and its partner institutions offer a wide range of continuing education opportunities for junior scholars and scientists, both for their academic careers and for a professional future outside of research.

On this page, we would like to draw your attention to selected continuing education courses and information events that we would particularly like to recommend to doctoral candidates and postdocs and which you can generally attend free of charge as a member of TU Berlin. At the same time, we recommend that you browse through the various offers on your own.

There are also many institutions that are not part of TU Berlin but accept applications from TU members. Please find out whether costs may be incurred for the offer.

Details on the rights and obligations for continuing education for employed doctoral candidates and postdocs:

According to BerlHG § 110 (4), academic staff* have at least 25%* of their working time (*for qualification positions it is even 50%) available for work on their academic qualification or research. This includes continuing education.\ • Inform supervisor at least 2 weeks before continuing education\ • Supervisor must give reasons for refusal\ • Supervisor can expect that official duties will not be impaired by the continuing education program\ • Cost coverage is at the discretion of the department

When it comes to academic writing, it is often not easy to get off to a good start or you lose momentum halfway through.\ BUA as well as other institutions, such as the Staatsbibliothek, therefore offer practical help in the form of workshops or virtual meetings.

In order to develop and maintain healthy work and life habits, it is important to focus on personal mental health from time to time, but it is also useful to learn new strategies in self-management.
