### Laws, Ordinances, and Contractual Regulations
TU Berlin is governed by various legal provisions. These are laws and regulations enacted by the State of Berlin, the federal government, and by TU Berlin itself. Laws and ordinances are legal provisions that are binding for all TU Berlin employees. The University is also subject to contractual regulations. Here we provide an overview of some of the most important laws and ordinances. In addition, there are various internal regulations and guidelines that, unlike laws and regulations, have no legal character.
### Regulations and Guidelines
What position does TU Berlin adopt on issues of relevance to society and how does it perceive itself? The University’s identity is founded upon its regulations and guidelines as well as the decisions passed by the various committees regarding core issues. These represent the means by which the University aligns itself as part of society and assumes its share of the responsibility for shaping a free and democratic community. The regulations and guidelines are the rules the University has imposed upon itself and form the binding basis for its administrative activities. Unlike laws and ordinances, regulations and guidelines have no legal character.

### Circulars/Current Notices
All statutes and regulations issued by the governing bodies of TU Berlin that govern matters of research, study, teaching, academic self-governance, and university administration are published in the university’s Official Bulletin (AMBl). It serves as the central medium for these announcements.\
